LAWTON – The Cameron women's tennis team made an improbable comeback and rallied from a 3-0 hole to beat Texas A&M-Kingsville 5-3 in the Lone Star Conference semifinals on Friday. CU's win avenged a loss in Lawton to TAMUK just last month.

Cameron who is hosting this year's tournament left doubles play without a win and skirted near the brink of seeing their season come to a close.Â

Texas A&M-Kingsville need to win in two spots to advance and
Angie Torres was first to get CU a point with a 6-0, 6-1 win the number-2 slot.Â
Samantha Wood was next to follow with a 6-2, 6 -2 victory in the three slot,Â
Dejana Veljic evened the match at three each with a 6-2, 6-2 win in six singles, the go-ahead point came from
Magdalena Kovinic who won 6-1, 6-3 in the four-slot.Â

The match came down to the top slot where
Paula Gutierrez came up with a 7-5, 6-1 to complete the comeback.

Cameron will move up to 13-7 overall and will face Midwestern State on Saturday at 10 a.m. for the league's title match.
