RICHARDSON, Texas – Cameron tennis standouts Duje Janjic and Julia Puckhaber were honored this week by being named Lone Star Conference Players of the Week by conference officials.
Janjic displayed excellent form in Cameron’s three matches during the week. He kicked things off by taking out Abilene Christian’s Borja Cortes by a score of 7-6(4), 7-5. He and partner Angelo Lencioni picked up a doubles win against conference rival ACU as well. The twosome defeated Cody McCarty and Michael Morris in an 8-6 decision. The next action for the Aggies came against Laredo College, a team ranked second in the nation in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. Janjic put forth exceptional effort, but fell to nationally-ranked No. 21 Bruno Kliskinic in an incredibly tight 7-6, 7-5 contest. The Black and Gold closed out the week by facing off against Incarnate Word. In that match-up, the CU junior handled UIW’s Chris Lawson 6-0, 6-2. Janjic’s superb efforts in the week allowed him to improve his overall singles record to 15-5.

The Hambergen, Germany native and partner Amanda Moberg thumped Danielle Moore and Sondra Cui by a score of 8-1 at the top doubles position. Puckhaber then double bageled Victoria Rios at the No. 2 singles spot. The Aggies finished the week by securing another conference win, this time over UIW. In that contest, the No. 25 Puckhaber pounded Maggae Doney in a 6-3, 6-1 decision.
