Lawson leads Aggie golfers at the OGA Stroke Play Championship

LAWTON, Okla. -- The Cameron men's golf team is getting some off-season work done on the golf course with five student-athletes competing in the OGA Stroke Play Championship at the Jimmie Austin O.U. Golf Club in Norman.  Of the five Aggie golfers, Trey Lawson finished in 15th with a score of 215.

"What can I say about Trey, he has had an outstanding summer on the course competing in some tough tournaments," said head coach Jerry Hrnciar. "Some of the best amateur golfers in the country are playing in this championship, it's tough to make the cut into the final round because only the top 30 advance."

Incoming freshman Cullen Stahl ended the championship in 17th after around of 72 today and an overall score of 216.  Jamie Grey posted a 8-over in the second around matching round from yesterday of 75 and placed 46th .  Weston Ward finished in 55th with a score of 151 (74, 77).  Kregg Wood placed 63rd with a 12-over (75, 79).

"I thought overall everyone golfed well during the past two days with some good scores in a very changeling field of athletes."

There were a total of 99 golfers from the southwest competed in the event.

On Sept. 8, the Cameron men's golf team will open the fall season in the Coody-West Texas Intercollegiate in Abilene, Texas.
