
Women's 2012 fall golf schedule released
July 16, 2012 LAWTON, Okla -- The Cameron University women's golf 2012 fall schedule has several returning events including hosting a tournament, and features a trip to San Angelo, Texas.Head coach Rick Goodwin is entering his eighth season with seven returnees and one incoming freshman (Alexis Thompson). Additionally, Goodwin did not lose anyone from last year's team from graduation.
"We've got eight kids and only five spots so there is going to be some competition," said head coach Rick Goodwin. "The core group of this year's team is juniors and we are getting Kylee Johnson back who missed last year due to an injury, she is a really strong player, and we are looking forward to having her back."
The Aggies open the season with a visit to Amarillo, Texas on Sept. 10-11 for the Lady Buff Stampede at Tascosa Golf Club that will feature several other women's golf programs in the Lone Star Conference, Heartland Conference, and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Then there will be a quick turnaround for the Aggies as they will travel to San Angelo, Texas to play in the Concho River Classic hosted by Angelo State on Sept 17-18.
After a two week break, Cameron will travel up the I-44 to Oklahoma City for the Bronco Classic on Oct. 1-2 and is hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma. The Aggies participated in this tournament last year placing 18th.
To conclude the fall season Cameron will play in the Dallas Baptist Classic in Dallas, Texas on Oct. 15-16 and a week later the Aggies will host their annual tournament the Oklahoma Intercollegiate on Oct. 22-23 at Fort Sill Golf Club.
"I expect us to be better this year, we are looking forward to the season," said Goodwin. "I have been getting excellent reports from the kids who have been playing in tournaments, practicing, and some are even working at golf courses."
"The classroom, golf course, community service, we're anxious to get after it again."
