
Former Aggie Svajlen off to a strong start in Europe
June 19, 2012 Lawton, Okla. - Former Cameron University student-athlete Peter Svajlen is continuing his success in Europe competing in the Slovak and Czech PGA Tour since graduating in 2010.In the 2012 season Svajlen has competed in eight events highlighted by a top five finish in the Golf Prague Open on May 6-9 and a 11th place finish in the Skalica Thophy on June 11-12.
"Peter is a very self-driven person and he's doing this both in the business world in Europe and playing because he is that motivated," said head coach Jerry Hrnciar. " But it means a lot (for the golf program) when we have someone playing overseas with success."

At Cameron, Svajlen was a two time All-American in 2008 and 2009 and a two time Academic All-American in 2009 and 2010. In 2008, he was voted Slovak Player of the Year by the Slovak Golf Association, finished 2nd at the Lone Star Conference Championship, and won the NCAA South Central Regional Championship. Although he missed the 2009 season with a wrist injury, Svajlen came back for his senior year in 2010 with a 7th place finish at the LSC Championship and placed 8th at the NCAA Division II National Championship before ending his amateur career as the number one ranked player in Slovakia. Additionally, he was the first Slovak professional in qualify for an European Tour event (Czech Open). Svajlen earned his undergraduates degree and masters at Cameron along with being a four year letter winner on the men's golf team.
