Aggie Women Finish Season Ranked 11th in Nation

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced today that the Cameron University women’s tennis team finished the 2011-2012 season ranked No. 11 in the nation. That marks highest ranking the women have earned in the program’s history.

The CU squad had an outstanding year. The women documented a 23-5 record, making it the winningest season the program has ever achieved, and earlier this month, the Black and Gold competed in the NCAA National Championships for the second consecutive season. In addition to the team begin honored with a No. 11 ranking, juniors Amanda Moberg and Julia Puckhaber finished the season with a national ranking within the top 50, and the twosome of Moberg and Sara Londono ended the year ranked No. 25 in the country.

Cameron women’s tennis coach James Helvey was delighted with the news of the end-of-year rankings.

“There are about 200 schools that compete in the country, and to be 11 of 200 is not too shabby. This is the highest ranking the women’s program has ever achieved,” Helvey said. “I am proud of my team and proud of the hard work they have put in all season. We are all ready to get going again in late August, and I think this sets us up well for next year.”
