Three Aggies Named All-Conference
November 9, 2011CANYON, Texas (Nov. 9, 2011) — Cameron had three All-Conference awards tonight, as the Lone Star Conference announced its volleyball awards Wednesday, leading up to the conference tournament.
Senior Adrienne Lawson, junior Julisa Ocasio and freshman Kelle Carver were each named to Second Team All-Conference, recognition voted on by coaches within the conference.
Lawson finshed the season second on the team in kills with 377, averaging 3.43 per set; second on the team in digs with 300, averaging 2.73 per set. She also contributed 20 assists, 36 blocks and 20 aces.
In her first season at Cameron, Ocasio finished with 570 digs, averaging 5.18 per set, including a season-high 35 against Dallas Baptist and 29 against West Texas A&M. Additionally, Ocasio added a team-high 32 aces. She was even better in conference play, improving her digs per set to 5.30.
Carver finished the season leading the team in kills with 407, averaging 3.88 per set. She was also a force defensively with 56 total blocks. The freshman tied a school record with 30 kills against Texas Permian-Basin. Against Southern Arkansas, Carver hit 26 kills with a .615 attack percentage.
The play of each of these women is a major reason the Aggies were able to advance to the post season for the first time in three years.
