Ted Owens

Coach

Undoubtedly a Cameron icon, Coach Ted Owens was the head basketball coach from 1956-1960 where his basketball teams made it to the national tournament semi-finals three consecutive years with an astounding record of 93-24. Owens' inspiring leadership led the Cameron Aggies to new heights, elevating the team to an unprecedented level of performance. Under his tenure, the Cameron hoopsters were ranked No. 1 in the nation in 1958 where they were the first undefeated team to enter the National Tournament. In addition to his wildly successful basketball coaching career, Coach Owens also led the baseball program to win the National Championship in 1958. Further illustrating his versatility, Coach Owens also coached football at Cameron and was awarded an Endowed Lectureship in 2006.
